New Schedule for END TIMES Comic Book Page Production (i.e. I DON'T LIVE IN JAPAN!!!)

Okay, I think things are going to get back on track for me, if my new extended schedule works.

The schedule will be:

  • 1 polished comic page every half a month
  • 2 Polished Pages once a month
  • Which over the course of 12 months amounts to around a little over 1 issue, or 24 pages a year.

That might not sound like much, but knowing how fast my planning notebooks fill up, there will certainly be a lot of small work, constructing and generating visual and formatting, thumbs, and compositions for each page
during every 13 pages in between each major polished page.

This might sound like everything has slowed down production wise, but it hasn't. It's just a  continuation and a more identifiable organization of my previous unconscious work rate. I was putting out one comic book issue in a series a year for the last 2-3 years anyway, if the publication date of my comics issues is any indicator.

Post-It Note Amendment:

Okay, upon the publication of the first webcomic blog post on my new schedule, I have realized this announcement has created some discussion online, which has resulted in some confusion about my work rate. Let me clarify.

When I say I'm "Drawing only 2 polished pages a month" please do not assume I'm only drawing 2 pages a month in a literal sense. I'll still be working at my normal rate. Saying I'm doing two polished comics pages a month just means I'm placing greater emphasis on the quality of the final product's story and art. In reality, just this month and last (June) ALONE, I drew at least 15-29 rough sketch, layout, and thumb pages. Saying I'm cutting back to 2 pages a month doesn't mean I'll literally only be drawing 2 comic book pages a month in general. It just means I won't be showcasing as many of my thumbnail pages and panel sketches, and instead focusing all of my work into building up a more polished, presentable, image for END TIMES. 2 pages is the MINIMUM. There's a high likelihood that if I get good at 2 polished pages a month, it could lead to a higher consistency and quality rate, and hence many more pages a month than just 2. 2 is the MINIMUM work amount. Not the maximum result. I just don't want to jinx my schedule by promising more than I can manage, meaning a more Japanese-esque page rate. (dozens of pages each week or month, or a lot more, as is the case for artist who have their shit together at a higher consistency rate than I do.)
